PROJECT STATEMENT
Usertool is an installation tool designed to support store analysis for clients by enabling installation technicians to configure CCTV data on-site and designate the areas to be processed by Vision AI models.
Overview

About Usertool

Usertool is a product designed to support the analysis of client stores using Vision AI models by importing and processing CCTV data. This tool simplifies the previously complex and challenging workflow, enabling installation technicians to efficiently configure the necessary CCTV cameras and spaces for analysis.

Responsibility
I was responsible for the overall UX and UI design of the product and led user research efforts. I restructured three previously separate tools into a single, unified system and designed a step-by-step workflow to simplify complex tasks. To address the lack of dedicated design resources, I collaborated closely with frontend and backend developers as well as QA engineers, contributing not only to product development but also to refining the design itself. This collaborative approach ensured that the final design was optimized while accounting for technical constraints.

Cut Installation Time by 50%

By consolidating three separate tools into a single, unified system and implementing a guided, step-by-step workflow, I successfully reduced the installation time from over two hours to just 30 minutes. This improvement significantly enhanced the efficiency of installation technicians and streamlined the overall process.

Facilitated 136 Feedback Sessions

I conducted and led 136 feedback sessions involving installation technicians, frontend and backend developers, ML engineers, and QA teams. These sessions were instrumental in identifying critical pain points, such as tool overload and unclear workflows, and addressing them through targeted design solutions.

Led 40 Design Sprints

I spearheaded 40 design sprints, adopting a milestone-driven approach to align each release phase with user journeys derived from interviews and research. This process ensured consistent progress toward strategic goals while maintaining a user-centered design focus throughout the project.

Reflection

Working on Usertool was a meaningful experience that taught me valuable lessons about Vision AI, teamwork, and communication. Here are the key takeaways from this project:

🤖
Deepened Understanding of Vision AI and CCTV Data
Through this project, I developed a stronger grasp of how CCTV data is processed and mapped to AI models. I also learned that various configuration steps, including camera selection and spatial mapping, are essential to ensure accurate AI model analysis.

🙌
The Power of Teamwork
Despite the lack of dedicated design resources, our team worked together with a shared focus on the product itself. This experience showed me that true product growth comes from collective effort, where everyone’s input is valued. My teammates’ ideas improved the product and enhanced my design skills, showing me the value of stepping beyond individual roles to focus on the bigger picture.
👥
Communication Skills
Collaborating closely with developers, QAs, and other team members helped me refine my communication skills. By actively seeking feedback and aligning o solutions, I learned how to balance user needs with technical constraints. This process made me realize the importance of clear, open communication in delivering a cohesive product.
